This third installment in the acclaimed design film trilogy (Helvetica and Objectified being the other two) recently premiered in Toronto to packed houses that whooped and cheered. Here, director Gary Hustwit asks this fundamental question: Who is allowed to shape our cities for the future, and how do they do it? He traveled across the globe interviewing leading urban architects, planners, and policymakers. By 2050, it’s projected that 75% of the people on the planet will live in cities. Challenges such as housing, mobility, public space, civic engagement, economic development, and environmental policy are universal concerns, yet rarely is the public invited to the table on these issues. (Gary Hustwit; UK/USA; 2011; 82 min)

Presented in collaboration with AIGA Pittsburgh.

Q&A with Editor Michael Culyba following the Nov 9th screening.
